UX/UI Senior Design Lead for Anthology Marketing Group*

Halekulani hotel is one of Oahu’s most storied hotels in Waikiki with a heritage going back to the late 1800’s. It is a luxury hotel with a true oasis of calm in the hustle and bustle of Waikiki that has a tradition of excellence and service. The hotel’s online visual presence was in need of some fine-tuning to convey the brand’s reputation for refined, understated luxury. Its existing brand guidelines were suitable for print and PR but did not address questions that arose for digital advertising.

As Senior Lead, I conducted discovery exercises with the clients to present a design style of their website that was more aligned with the Halekulani brand. From the information gathered, I was able to provide an updated digital brand identity guide that addressed their needs for a broader palette and refined typographic feel that could be used across all digital media.

We also modified the existing site templates within their current CMS to accommodate for a new design as an interim before their proposed schedule for a full redesign. The agency was given a strict budget and asked if it was possible to do a visual overhaul. I examined the template closely with our lead front-end developer to come up with possible ideas in how we may be able to. Based on our research, I drafted an estimate for our department to review for approval and created a design that would fit within our strategy to present to our client. We managed to deliver a design that we could retrofit into their Drupal theme within a strict budget and maintained a relationship that allowed for the agency to be awarded the project of the full redesign.
